The 6th National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law

Law faculties of 14 Jordanian public and private universities took part in the competition, representing: the University of Jordan, Al al-Bayt University, Jadara University, Ajloun National University, Zarqa University, Irbid Private University, Applied Science University, Petra University, Philadelphia University, Jerash University, Islamic Sciences University, Amman Arab University, Mu’tah University, and Al-Ahliyya Amman University.

The Competition aims at promoting the knowledge and respect of IHL and contributing to the development of its teaching and learning methodologies at higher education institutions, adopting by a practical approach that engages students and stimulates their aptitude for innovation and critical thinking on various IHL issues. 

The ICRC Head of Delegation in Amman, Yann Fridez, stated that “Competitions like these are especially relevant today, as the ICRC continues to raise awareness and promote acceptance of IHL as a body of law that, when respected, saves lives and protects human dignity.”

At the end of the competition, which was supervised by a panel of designated judges and legal experts, Applied Science University team won the 1st place, while Irbid Private University team took 2nd place. The rest of the contesting teams were also honoured in appreciation of their efforts and active participation. 

It is noteworthy that the winning team will go on to represent Jordan at the Regional Moot Court Competition in 2026.
