Port Moresby (ICRC) - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has commended the Papua New Guinea Government for establishing a National International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Committee, which held its inaugural meeting today.

And I must say that seems, first impossible, it was a region we knew very wellâ?¦it's really experienced colleaguesâ?¦.and knowing that they have been killed, attacked directly is the worst possible news. The shock to realise what it means for our actions in Afghanistan, what it means for Afghans, for the family, for the colleagues. I still can't believe that people would attack Red Cross and ICRC colleagues. ENDS
Manila (ICRC) - Through a four-year pilot project that improved tuberculosis (TB) control processes in the Quezon City Jail (QCJ), more TB cases were found and treated among the detainees, and mortality rates significantly dropped.
Manila (ICRC) - Nearly 7,000 people have been displaced for more than a month following armed clashes between government security forces and armed groups in Basilan province, southern Philippines. These families left their homes and sources of livelihood after the hostilities started in November.
A public awareness campaign on respecting ambulances' right of way, entitled RastaDein, was launched in Karachi in 2016 as part of the Health Care in Danger project. A marked improvement has since been noted in motorists' behaviour.
